Urology
Meet Professor Chris Fowler (BSc MA MS FRCP FRCS(Urol) FEBU) Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Royal London Hospital.
Professor Fowler was an undergraduate at the Middlesex Hospital Medical School. He trained in Surgery at Charing Cross Hospital, Hillingdon Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital before being recruited as a Lecturer in Urology at the then London Hospital Medical College.
After training in Urology under Professor John Blandy, with whom he wrote a standard Urological textbook, he was appointed as Consultant Urologist between the Royal London and Newham General Hospitals in 1988.
In 2001, he was appointed as Dean for Education at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry and has been Professor of Surgical Education since 2003.
Chris Fowler’s training and experience cover oncological surgery, uro-neurology and general urology. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and now practises as a medical and diagnostic urologist. He aims to use his educational expertise to explain and interpret urological problems to patients. His research interests have focussed on the use of technology to improve the patient experience. He has an international reputation as a pioneer of flexible cystoscopy and laser surgery in urology.
